Ongoing training is a necessity to develop and maintain adequate skills  and function effectively as a searcher.  All team members are trained to the same professional skill level.   While your individual training is paramount, the ability to work as a team and with others is equally important.

Team Trainings are held monthly on a Saturday.  Regular participation in these trainings is mandatory for all members. New recruits must attend an 16+ hour Basic Training before they can participate on a search. All team members must obtain Emergency First Responder training or Wilderness First Aid within their first 2 years on the SAR team.

Those with additional expertise may be well suited to help lead our team after meeting their incoming requirements and particapting on searches.

Due to the training time involved in becoming an effective searcher we ask for a commitment of two years from new volunteers  The time from the Orientation meeting to the completion of the background check can take anywhere from 6 months to 1 year.  Please keep this in mind if your time is very limited.
